I like electronic dance music a lot. But I don’t really know a lot about it, and I’m practically illiterate when it comes to the lexicon that real aficionados use to describe the music’s multitude of subgenres. For those, who like me, get tripped up on the distinctions between trance, techno, and trip-hop, not to mention house, drum & bass, and breakbeat, I recommend this accessible introduction that I recently discovered on Pandora. It’s from 2007, so no doubt a Part III would yield a whole new slew of variations, but for now it’s nice to know that I’m mostly a trance fan, with some techno tendencies.
